Thistle PD Kids In Charge! Winner

After 4 board meetings,
With its first ever advisory board 
Comprising 10 kids aged7 – 12 years old, 
Thistle Port Dickson concluded its Kids in Charge! 
Initiative with a ceremony 
To pay tribute to the Board members...

Adam Mrani, 12 years old, 
The Grand Prize winner! 

Adam won a 6 day/5 night stay 
At Thistle London for a family of four, With return air tickets to London,

He received his mock ticket 
From Mr Chinthaka Weerasinghe, 
Country Manager Malaysia, 
SriLankan Airlines 
And Mr John Murphy, 
General Manager of Thistle Port Dickson Resort.

“It was an awesome experience, 

In terms of what I learned 

And also the many friends I’ve made 

During the four Board Meetings,” 

Said Adam who is a student 

At S.K. Seri Mega in Kuala Lumpur. 

“I’m glad I was able to actively contribute 

And be a good team player 

During the various projects 

We had to undertake as Board Members. 

What I’ve learned will stand me in good stead 

For years to come.”

Adam’s proud mother,

Was equally thrilled 

To see her son 

Declared the grand prize winner. 

“It was a truly amazing learning curve 

For Adam,

And the whole experience wasn’t so much a contest,

But involved a whole lot of mentoring and encouragement 

From the Thistle team and facilitator 

Who brought out each kid’s potential. 

In fact I can see the change in Adam, 

Who’s become more confident 

And more of a leader in many ways. 

And the rest of the parents have been so supportive 

And become very good friends as well,” 

said Vanitha.

Each Board member was tasked 
With coming up with ideas 
To transform Thistle PD 
Into Malaysia’s best hotel for kids, 
A place where kids can truly enjoy themselves. 

The ideas ranged across 
All aspects of the hotel’s operations, 
Including its F&B offerings, 
Accommodation, services, 
Amenities and activities.

Besides convening at the meetings, 

The Board members also conducted their own research, 

Interviewed staff of the hotel 

And conducted feasibility surveys 

To ensure the ideas presented 

Were practical, workable and cost effective.

Board members were judged by a panel of 5 judges, 

Who adjudicated the members 

Based on originality and creativity of ideas, 

As well as their overall performance 

Over the 4 Board meetings.

“We were indeed astounded by 

The wit, charm and creativity of these kids 

Over the 4 Board Meetings. 

Their brilliant ideas 

Truly reflect their high level of commitment. 

They have proven that 

Children are full of possibilities and surprises 

And they deserve to be given a chance 

To show the world what they are truly capable of. 

Kids today are more astute than ever before, 

And in our efforts to continually improve our services, 

We held this initiative 

To make Thistle Port Dickson Resort

And the kids have been successful in this,”
